Q8 in Herstal is my favourite LPG-station around Liège, because of it's low price (12 cent below Belgian maximum price), large opening hours (22h) and position close to the motorway, like just 2 minutes driving.

Not very nice: You have to pay on beforehand (ask for ticket and go back inside to get your change money, or pay by credit card, outside at the machine) and there's no toilet for customers.

From E40 westbound, arriving from Verviers/Aachen, take exit 34 and turn right at the roundabout. After the next roundabout, Q8 is on the left-hand side of the road.

From E40 eastbound, you have to turn right, drive back a bit, turn right again and pass under the motorway. After the second roundabout, Q8 is on the left-hand side of the motorway.

Are you heading north into the Netherlands? Fill up your LPG tank here, because you save about 30 or 40 cents per litre, compared to average Dutch LPG prices. Compared to Dutch discount LPG prices, you still save 18 cent per litre by filling up in Herstal. Going northwest, you might find cheap LPG closer to Antwerpen, but with far more limited opening hours and bigger detours that waste your time.

Are you travelling into Ardennes? There are hardly no gas stations in a wide zone around Luxembourg (the whole country), so don't go southeast from Liège without enough fuel to make it over the border with Luxembourg, where unleaded petrol is very cheap. In Luxembourg Euro 95 unleaded petrol is 20 cent cheaper compared with Belgium and 40 cent cheaper compared with the Netherlands.

Also be sure the ladies in your company go to the toilet before they get into trouble... ;-) The Quick hamburger restaurant just north from exit 35 on E40 would be a nice escape for those who don't want to pay for toilets. Some lonely motorway parkings on E42 and E25 have toilet-cabins, but they are often so dirty, you would not even send your mother-in-law in there to sit on that! Such a cabin saved my day, though (being a man has some advantages) ;-)
