Autogas, LPG
There is no law or regulation to the use of adaptors. But because of some problems using adapters on unattended pumps resulting in cold burn incidents, some LPG stations discourage use of adapters from other nozzles to UK standard bayonet adapter to refill.
Caution when using Bayonet adapters. UK has two different bayonet nozzles
- DeVisser/Boessonkool nozzle - shorter and locks with a lever handle
- GasGuard nozzle - longer and has to be screwed onto the filler
If you have a short bayonet adapter it is likely it won't be possible to connect with the GasGuard nozzle; can potentially get stuck or cause a leak
October 2025 - All Morrisons, MFG group who run the forecourts, have now dictated to their staff not to allow filling of anything other than a vehicle. This is even if they are fitted correctly and not loose bottle. No Gaslow, no Safefill
